Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using the Dopo Help platform.

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Dopo Help platform ("Platform," "we," "our," or "us"). By registering as a donor or as an organisation ("you" or "user"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

  1. Legal compliance. You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
  2. Permits. Organisations seeking to fundraise through the Platform must hold valid authorisations or fundraising permits where required by law.
  3. Sanctions and restricted parties. The Platform may not be used by:
    • Any person or organisation listed on sanctions, terrorism, or restricted-party lists maintained by competent authorities (including, but not limited to, the United Nations, the European Union, the U.S. Treasury Department/OFAC, or national authorities);
    • Any organisation incorporated in, operating from, or materially funded by jurisdictions subject to broad international sanctions or restrictions (currently including, among others, Russia and Belarus);
    • Any organisation we reasonably believe has direct or indirect ties — financial, operational, or governance — to sanctioned jurisdictions or designated entities.

3. Donors

  1. Donors may use the Platform to make one-time or recurring contributions to eligible organisations.
  2. Donors acknowledge that donations are not refundable unless required by law.
  3. Donors agree not to use the Platform to launder funds, disguise sources of wealth, or otherwise engage in financial crime.
  4. Merchant of Record. Donors acknowledge that their donation is a transaction directly between them and the Organisation. The Organisation is the merchant of record for the donation transaction.
  5. Subscription Cancellation. Recurring donations (subscriptions) can be cancelled at any time through the donor dashboard. The cancellation will stop future payments.

4. Organisations

  1. Organisations must provide accurate, complete, and timely information during registration, including valid permits, governance details, and bank account information.
  2. Organisations agree to provide additional documents if requested as part of compliance or due diligence.
  3. Organisations must use donations solely for the purposes described in their fundraising permit or registration documents.
  4. Organisations must not misrepresent their mission, beneficiaries, or use of funds.
  5. Fees and Billing. Organisations are the merchants of record for all donations. Dopo and Stripe bill the Organisations for their respective platform and processing fees. These fees are typically deducted from the donation amount at the time of transaction.
  6. Finnish Regulations. Organisations operating in Finland are solely responsible for maintaining valid fundraising permits (rahankeräyslupa) or making small-scale fundraising notifications (pienkeräysilmoitus) and complying with the Finnish Money Collection Act.
  7. Taxes. Organisations are responsible for determining their own tax obligations. Service fees charged by Dopo may be subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) in accordance with applicable laws.

5. Risk-Based Compliance

  1. We apply a risk-based approach to compliance. The level of documentation and review may vary depending on the risk profile of the organisation or transaction, determined by objective and contextual factors.
  2. We may delay, suspend, or deny registration or payouts while conducting compliance checks.
  3. We may refuse service or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe that onboarding or continuing the relationship would expose the Platform to legal, regulatory, or reputational risk.

6. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform, block transactions, or withhold funds if:

  • You breach these Terms;
  • We are required to do so by law, sanctions, or regulatory order;
  • We reasonably suspect fraud, misuse, or prohibited activity.

7. Liability

  1. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.
  2. We are not liable for losses resulting from compliance actions taken in good faith, including suspending accounts, withholding payouts, or blocking transactions.
  3. Dopo is not a party to the donation agreement between the Donor and the Organisation and is not liable for the Organisation's use of funds or any failure by the Organisation to fulfill its mission.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland and applicable EU law. Any dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of Finnish courts.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
